Sintered parts manufacturing
Powder metallurgy (РМ) parts can be manufactured at different speeds and in different quantities, from hundreds to thousands parts per hour. The key elements and stages that we control when manufacturing powder metallurgy parts are resizing, powder composition, production rate, tool wear, sintering and heat treatment. We also control secondary operations, such as sintered parts calibration and machining.
- Radial dimensions (perpendicular to the press axis) are controlled by a tool (tooling). Modern presses with computer numerical control (CNC) guarantee an excellent control over dimensional accuracy, pressing speed and mould position. It ensures size constancy (repeatability), regardless of the volume and rate of production.
- The automatic correction of powder composition, which goes into a press mould, guarantees a fully identical weight of a part at a constant pressing density. So, all parameters of a powder composition, which are necessary to manufacture powder metallurgy parts, are set before batch production is launched.
In order to provide all these advantages, Eurobalt Engineering manufactures its own moulds and calibration tools, stores them and plans the production of new additional ones beforehand. We do all this at our own expense.
Depending on the composition of powders and specifics of the sintering process of powder metallurgy parts, finished parts can have similar properties to those which have undergone heat treatment, so there is no need to carry out secondary heat treatment.
