Application of hydraulic cylinder for pressing equipment

Hydraulic cylinders have been integral to lifting/moving needs of human lives for a while now. From chores at home to work in the fields, a lot of heavy and difficult task have been simplified with the help of cylinders. While we see most uses in our normal day to day lives, one important frequent application of hydraulic cylinder is hidden from everyday vision.

For decades Hydraulic cylinders have been commonly used in pressing machines to provide the necessary force required to perform pressing operations. Pressing machines with the help of hydraulic cylinders have been used to bend, press, forge, punch, shear and form at a large scale. It is used to shape and form materials by applying pressure or force to them, which can be achieved by using hydraulic cylinders.

There are different types of pressing machines that use hydraulic cylinders, including:

  • Hydraulic Presses

These are the most common type of pressing machines that use hydraulic cylinders. They are used to press materials into different shapes and sizes. Hydraulic presses are used in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and construction.

  • Powder Compacting Presses

These are used in the manufacturing of powder metallurgy products. Powder compacting presses use hydraulic cylinders to apply pressure to the powder, which is then shaped into the desired product.

  • Briquetting Presses

These are used to compress materials into briquettes, which are then used as fuel. Briquetting presses use hydraulic cylinders to apply pressure to the material, which is then compressed into the desired shape.

  • Roll Plate Bending Press

In roll plate bending machines hydraulic cylinders are applied to move the heavy rollers that press against the sheet metal or formed metal to provide a required rolled shape. End plate of tanks, silos etc. are made using this machine.

  • Press Brakes

While more and more press brakes these days are using motors to generate the pressing/bending force required, there are still a few where hydraulic cylinder is prevalent. With help of cylinders, preformed bending tools are applied on sheet metal to form bent end products. They are more efficient and seamless than cutting individual parts and welding them together to get the required shape.

  • Industrial Forging Press

The biggest pressing machines in continuous use are industrial forging presses. They are big, weighing up to 50,000 tons (largest ever built) and with the help of nonstandard hydraulic cylinders, they are used to shape pre-heated billets and ingots so they can be given the desired shapes.

  • Giga Press

Giga Press is a product name given to a die casting press solution introduced by Idra Group. The press uses hydraulic cylinder to form die casting parts, in current case, chassis for Tesla vehicles. Uniform chassis are produced, almost 40 per hour with the help of the hydraulic cylinder assisted giga press. Similarly, other die casting machines also, in most cases, for high clamping force, employ hydraulic cylinders.

The size of the hydraulic cylinder used in pressing machines depends on the size of the pressing machine and the amount of force required to perform the pressing operation. The pressing force required also depends on the material being pressed and the desired shape or size of the finished product. So, application of hydraulic cylinder in pressing machines varies with the force and material required to press/form.

In general, hydraulic cylinders used in pressing machines range in size from a few inches to several feet in length, and they can generate pressing forces ranging from a few tons to thousands of tons. The size of the cylinder and the pressing force required are determined by the specific application and the size and type of the pressing machine.

Eurobalt’s 8 Years Plus Experience in Manufacturing Hydraulic Cylinders for Pressing Machines

Eurobalt is a highly reputable manufacturer of hydraulic cylinders that are perfect for application in pressing machines. With 8-years-plus experience in the manufacturing industry has enabled us to produce high-quality cylinders that meet the needs of various industries. We have a team of highly skilled engineers who are committed to ensuring that each cylinder we manufacture is of the highest quality.

At Eurobalt, we can produce hydraulic cylinders with diameters of up to 1000mm. This means that we can cater to the needs of various industries, regardless of their size requirements. Furthermore, we have the capability to manufacture the longest cylinder up to 32 meters long when fully opened. This ensures that we can provide customized cylinders for specific applications, regardless of the length required.

While length requirements for pressing machines will not be severe, the diameter of piston rod allows for higher load resistance. Exerting continuous pressure repeatedly requires confidence that rod will not buckle under pressure and our long range of diameter sizes allows our clients the peace of mind of finding the right size for their needs.

Our hydraulic cylinders are capable of operating under high-pressure conditions, up to 500 bars. This makes them suitable for use in pressing machines that require high-pressure systems. We understand the importance of reliability and durability in hydraulic cylinders, which is why we either follow the clients’ material requirements or provide our own solution to best optimize client resources and provide quality product at an acceptable price.

All of our specialists can guide you through the process of ordering your first cylinder with us. So, do not hesitate and give us a call or send us an email, a representative will give you’re a thorough run down of how we can cooperate. You can either choose from our catalogue or provide us with your own drawings and within 48 hours a price offer will be presented to you. If you require, we are also available via video chat to properly discuss all the technical aspects of your hydraulic cylinders. So, drop us an email or give us a call and we can go forward from there.
