Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) Tool Manufacturing Eurobalt®
Metal Injection Moulding has been around for a few decades now. Taking its inspiration from plastic injection moulding and powder metallurgy, MIM has risen in the world of metal manufacturing for its tendency to produce high density yet small and complex parts.
Due to the precision and speed displayed by metal injection moulding, it became the go-to for smaller and geometrically complex parts. MIM reduced the cost associated with the use of die casting for smaller parts and, with the introduction of multiple cavities, it also streamlined the production process, making it faster.
At Eurobalt we are ahead of the competition when it comes to metal injection moulding because of our capability to manufacture moulds in-house. The tooling needed to give the shape of the metal part is done completely under one roof with the help of multiple CNC machines and specialized tools for the purposes of manufacturing a tooling.
Tooling Manufacture for Metal Injection Moulding at Eurobalt Engineering
Though the size of parts made by metal injection moulding cannot be larger than half a kilo, the size of the cavity inside the tooling is also small. However, the construction itself is of a large size, as compression and pressure need to be maintained inside the cavity.
In a single mould, we offer our clients the opportunity to insert multiple cavities. This helps in the production process as a single motion of opening and closing can result in multiple parts.
The mould has two equal halves, the moving side has no openings on the outside and on the inside, there is one half of the cavity. The immovable side is connected to the high-pressure feeding tube, through which the mixed feedstock is passed into the opening made on the back.
The feedstock makes its way to the cavity, after the two ends are closed shut, and fills the cavity, taking the required shape. There is still the feed system of the mould which is attached to the main part, but it can be removed easily.
Metal injection moulding is limited in its capability when it comes to producing larger parts, the tooling is very heavy after all. At Eurobalt Engineering all that is simplified under one roof, with the ability to fix issues, produce perfect parts, and eliminate your production woes.
We also afford our partners the ability to choose from a varied list of material, so they can be confident in the longevity and sturdiness of the tooling. Besides, a sturdy tooling means consistent results over an extended period of use, and we facilitate all types of production issues at Eurobalt®.
How is Tooling Manufactured at Eurobalt?
A tooling is vital to the success of the metal injection moulding process. The shaping of the parts required depends on the manufacturing of a proper tooling. Also, with a sensible design the need for extra work is not required, which benefits the production time.
At Eurobalt® we manufacture toolings ourselves to make sure that we are the one-stop working partner for our clients. There are a couple of steps we need to follow in manufacturing a tooling for metal injection moulding.
At Eurobalt we not only provide our clients with the opportunity to select from a wide array of materials, but we also offer a variety of machining possibilities to fit your production needs. Being equipped with state-of-the-art CNC devices, we can manufacture high-tolerance and precise toolings for metal injection moulding.
